Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of accounting and record-keeping functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data for an assigned business unit. Key duties include preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and generating detailed financial reports. You will work closely with internal teams to track and analyze financial transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. Additionally, you will assist in the month-end and year-end close processes, support audits, and provide insight into financial performance to help drive decision-making.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Staff Accountant II : $79,000 - $89,000

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Staff Accountant II Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages various accounts in a professional and effective manner by researching and reconciling problems.
  • Prepares and maintains financial reports for customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares various journal entries.
  • Provides invoice coding.
  • Prepares accounts receivable adjustments and provides customers with statements of outstanding balances.
  • Assists with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Prepares financial reports as requested.
  • Identifies processes to improve efficiency.
  • Ensures all financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies & procedures.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Staff Accountant II Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Ability to obtain an IRS/MBI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 4-7 years of corporate accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have significant experience with and proficiency in working in QuickBooks
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft applications.
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures in Finance/Accounting and Reconciliation.
  • Must have good analytical skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and organizational skills.
  • Must be able to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to managers and other employees of the organization.
  • Must pass the pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
