Trade Compliance Manager – Import/Export – Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

About the Company

We’re partnered with a U.S.-based industrial manufacturer with European heritage and a global presence. Recognized for their high-precision machinery and engineering expertise, the company supports customers across multiple industries throughout the Americas. Trade compliance plays a vital role in safeguarding operations and ensuring regulatory standards are consistently met.

They are now looking to appoint a Trade Compliance Manager to take ownership of North American import/export activities and enhance the efficiency and reliability of compliance programs.

Role Overview

Based in Charlotte, with hybrid flexibility, this role will lead trade compliance strategy across the U.S. and Canada. You’ll oversee tariff classification, broker performance, duty optimization, and trade policy management—while collaborating with senior leadership and international teams. Relocation support is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct trade compliance processes for North American imports and exports
• Administer HTS classifications, trade agreements, and customs duty reduction programs
• Conduct internal audits and drive proactive compliance risk management
• Maintain SOPs, training materials, and internal compliance documentation
• Liaise with brokers, freight forwarders, and internal teams to ensure operational accuracy
• Track regulatory developments and adjust policies in line with new requirements
• Partner with global trade and legal departments on cross-border initiatives

Candidate Requirements

• Active U.S. Customs Broker License (mandatory)
• 5–7+ years of experience in trade compliance, preferably within manufacturing
• Strong expertise in U.S. import/export laws, HTS classification, and customs regulations
• Knowledge of NAFTA/USMCA, CBP, BIS, and tariff programs
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA, GTS, or similar ERP/trade compliance platforms
• Skilled communicator with the ability to train and collaborate across departments
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC (relocation package available)
