Position: Quality Assurance/Quality Inspection Inspector

Location: SW Portland

Compensation: $27-$30/HR

Job Overview

Our client, a leading employer in Portland, is seeking a Quality Assurance (QA) and Incoming Quality Assurance (IQA) Inspector to ensure that all products and materials meet established quality standards and performance metrics prior to delivery. This role involves conducting thorough inspections, collecting and analyzing quality data, and collaborating with teams to address any quality issues effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections, tests, and evaluations of all products scheduled for shipment and incoming materials to confirm compliance with specified standards.
  • Prepare and issue calibration certificates along with required documentation.
  • Verify that all items are accounted for before approving products for shipment.
  • Execute Performance Assurance testing for products.
  • Inspect incoming materials that may present quality issues, utilizing mechanical, electrical, and visual inspection techniques.
  • Maintain detailed records for supplier evaluations and quality assessments.
  • Create clear Discrepant Material Reports for any identified discrepancies.
  • Collect data and maintain precise records of inspection outcomes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in Manufacturing, Purchasing, Materials, and Engineering departments, and engage occasionally with external vendors.
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail; accuracy is crucial as errors can significantly affect customer relations and production timelines.
  • Draft, update, and maintain operational Work Instructions.
  • Uphold a safe, organized, and clean working environment.
  • Adhere to all quality policies and procedures.
  • Undertake ISO auditing responsibilities as assigned, following established procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks as needed.

Qualifications

  • At least two years of experience in a quality inspection role, particularly in IQA or QA environments.
  • Minimum of one year of hands-on experience with both mechanical and electrical testing equipment, including micrometers, calipers, voltmeters, and similar devices.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods (approximately 50% of the time) and lift weights up to 40 lbs independently, with assistance for heavier items (up to 80 lbs).
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and demands, ensuring alignment with production and engineering schedules.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel; familiarity with MRP/ERP systems is preferred.
