FileNet Administrator

Job Summary:

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior IBM FileNet Administrator to join their team in Chicago, IL. This critical role will be responsible for the overall administration, maintenance, support, and optimization of their IBM FileNet P8 content management system, with a focus on supporting ongoing and future migration projects and leveraging cloud services . The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in FileNet, a proven track record of managing complex environments, and strong problem-solving and communication skills. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure the stability, security, and performance of the FileNet platform while also contributing to its strategic direction, supporting case management functionalities, and actively participating in the evolution of their content management strategy including potential cloud adoption.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for the IBM FileNet P8 platform.
  • Perform day-to-day administration, maintenance, and support of the FileNet environment, including object stores, document classes, security, workflows, and search functionality.
  • Implement and manage security protocols, access controls, and user permissions within FileNet.
  • Monitor system performance, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex FileNet issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute system upgrades, patches, and migration projects related to the FileNet platform, potentially including transitions to cloud services .
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for FileNet configurations, processes, and procedures, specifically addressing considerations for cloud environments .
  • Collaborate with development teams and business stakeholders to understand requirements and implement FileNet solutions to support business needs, particularly in case management scenarios, and aligning with the overall cloud strategy .
  • Provide technical guidance and support to FileNet users and other IT teams, including best practices for utilizing FileNet in conjunction with cloud services .
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing for the FileNet environment, with specific attention to cloud-based recovery options .
  • Identify and implement best practices for FileNet administration and governance, considering the implications of cloud adoption .
  • Contribute to the strategic planning and evolution of the FileNet platform within the organization, with a strong focus on leveraging cloud services for scalability, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in the planning and execution of migration projects from on-premise FileNet environments to cloud-based solutions , or between different FileNet environments.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of relevant cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their integration capabilities with IBM FileNet.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience as an IBM FileNet Administrator in enterprise-level environments.
  • Strong working knowledge and practical experience with IBM FileNet P8 architecture, including: Content Engine
  • Process Engine (Workflow)
  • Content Search Services (CSS/CBR)
  • Enterprise Manager
  • Application Engine (Workplace XT/Content Navigator preferred)
  • Records Management (RM) (a plus)
  • Significant experience in configuring and managing FileNet case management solutions.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex FileNet issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Solid understanding of security principles and best practices related to content management systems, including cloud security considerations .
  • Experience with performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization of FileNet environments, including cloud-based deployments .
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and articulation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Jython, PowerShell) for automation tasks is a plus, particularly in the context of cloud automation .
  • Demonstrated experience participating in or leading FileNet migration projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their potential integration with IBM FileNet.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • IBM FileNet P8 certification(s).
  • Experience with integration of FileNet with other enterprise applications, including cloud-based services .
  • Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, etc.), including cloud-specific compliance frameworks .
  • Experience with cloud-based FileNet deployments (e.g., IBM Cloud Pak for Content, or migrating FileNet to other cloud platforms).
