Job Description

Job Title: Ocean Export Team Lead

Position Summary:

The Ocean Export Team Lead is responsible for managing the end-to-end ocean export process while supervising a team of export specialists. This role ensures export operations are carried out efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with all applicable regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills and deep knowledge of international shipping practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of ocean export coordinators to ensure operational excellence.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize export procedures to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with logistics, customer service, and other internal departments to ensure timely and accurate shipment of goods.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with customers, carriers, and logistics partners.
  • Monitor market trends to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ensure all export activities comply with relevant international trade regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, and shipping instructions.
  • Design and deliver training programs to enhance the skills and performance of the export team.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ocean export operations, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of export regulations, customs procedures, and industry best practices.

  • Skilled in problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in the use of logistics and supply chain management software.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Directly responsible for overseeing and supporting a team of ocean export coordinators.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using industry-standard ocean freight software.
  • Familiarity with international shipping routes, schedules, and export control requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of global ocean freight regulations and customs compliance.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Additional language skills are a plus.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Experience with logistics software is required.
